BEYOND THE TITLE & ROLES

Meet Laneen Morgan

The Woman Beyond the Titles

Hello, Queen. I’m Laneen Morgan—a wife, mother, woman of faith, ministry leader, human resources professional, and now, author. Those titles describe meaningful parts of my life, but none of them tells my whole story.

Long before I became known as Pastor Morgan’s wife, I was simply Laneen—a woman learning to trust God, love her family, find her voice, and become comfortable with the person He created her to be.

For more than twenty-five years, I have had the privilege of serving in ministry beside my husband, Pastor Tolan Morgan. Our journey has been filled with love, faith, growth, sacrifice, laughter, challenges, and more lessons than I could have imagined when we first began. Together, we have built a life, raised three sons, and experienced what it means to follow God when the path is clear—and when it is not.

I am deeply grateful to serve at Fellowship Bible Baptist Church and to help lead Women of Worth, a ministry created to encourage women in their faith and remind them that God is still working in every season of their lives. Some of the most sacred moments of my ministry have not happened on a platform. They have happened in quiet conversations with women who needed a safe place to tell the truth about what they were carrying.

Those conversations have shaped my heart.

I know what it feels like to love God and still feel weary. I know what it means to care for others while quietly wondering who is caring for you. I understand how easily a woman can become known for what she does, whom she supports, or how much she carries while the person beneath those responsibilities slowly becomes invisible.

That is why helping women feel seen, valued, and heard matters so deeply to me.

My professional life has strengthened that calling in another way. As a seasoned human resources leader, I have spent years listening, guiding, solving problems, developing leaders, and advocating for people during some of their most difficult moments. Whether I am serving in the church, leading in the workplace, or sitting across the table from a woman who needs encouragement, the heart of my work remains the same: people deserve to know that their voices matter

Why I Wrote More Than the Title

For five years, I carried, wrote, revisited, and prayed over More Than the Title: A Pastor’s Wife’s Journey of Faith, Boundaries, and Becoming.

This book began with a truth I could no longer keep to myself. When my husband was called to pastor, I stepped into a life I did not fully understand. I loved God, loved my husband, and wanted to serve faithfully, but somewhere along the journey, I began losing pieces of myself while trying to become the woman I believed everyone expected me to be.

Writing this book required me to return to places I had survived, examine lessons I had learned, and tell the truth about ministry without writing from bitterness. These pages were born from healing, reflection, prayer, and the hope that another woman might recognize herself in my story.

Although More Than the Title grew from my experience as a pastor’s wife, its message belongs to every woman who has ever felt defined by a role, burdened by expectations, silenced by fear, or overlooked while caring for everyone else.

My prayer is that women will find more than encouragement in my words. I want them to find permission to be honest, establish healthy boundaries, recover their voices, and remember who they were before the world began identifying them by what they could provide.

I want every woman who encounters my work to know this:

You can serve without disappearing. You can love deeply without losing your voice. You can remain tender without allowing life to break you. Most importantly, before anyone knew you by a title, God knew you by name.

I am still becoming. I am still learning. I am still walking closely with the God who has been faithful through every chapter of my life.

And if you are somewhere along that journey too, Queen, there is a place for you here.

Welcome. Pull up a chair.

Let’s walk this journey of faith, boundaries, healing, and becoming—together.
